I am involved in Electronic Village Online these next 6 weeks. The participants are from around the world and I find it an exciting experience. Just wondering if you feel you can get as much from an online experience as from f2f? Does every PD need some f2f?

I seem to have become bogged down with PD presentations - could use some input from all of you.
What is your favorite "tool" for your personal learning network? and Why?
Do you find yourself loosing interest in using social networks? have they become cumbersome?
What about twitter?
Any other input on PLN's is appreciated.

I blogged a short video clip,
Do It For Me, that a friend sent. See:
SharonsShare today.
It also was fed to the top of the NewLearning's main page - I wonder what you folks all think about our "safety net" teaching mentality? Are we sheltering too much?
The funny thing was, that a teacher in one of my district elementary schools was blocked from viewing the video! We use a state filtering system which I can over-ride. You can…

I just posted a video from CUE -
panel discussion on Social Networking in schools. The panel consisted of Sylvia Martinez, James Klein, David Jakes, Dennis O’Connor and moderator Steve Hargadon. What a fantastic group.
Take a listen and let me know if this is what you believe.

I am finding success with Moodle and wikis - wondering what platforms you find most useful. I would like to move into more video and voice tools to supplement my professional development offerings. Does anyone already do this?
There are so many great tools coming out everyday - I'll bet I am missing many resources and am beginnign to plan summer trainings. Give me some good ideas.

I have been a bit negligent of this fabulous group. Projects - projects.
I have several great projects going on in my district - and perhaps that is just as good as direct PD for the teachers.
I am going to start a new Forum for you to all post some of the projects being completed by your teachers - include the URLs.
Check under Forums for Examples of Successful Projects - and add your stars.

I am in the process of putting together our summer Professional Development program. This year, I am considering opening up some for outside educators - wonder if that might work.
Our courses meet for a week f2f - but are fulling supported through Moodle. Many of the members here are also responsible for Professional Development - what are your plans?
When mine are a little more firmed up, I will post some outlines and see what you think -

I have been involved in several totally online projects this winter -
Electronic Village Online - and KnowPlace
They are both successful programs for assisting teachers to learn more tools and collaboration - I am interested in this group.
Other than Ning, what type of online learning have you pursued?
Ever participated with virtual classrooms?
Moodle
Vyew
Elluminate
If so, how did you find the experience? Would you consider doing it again - why or why not?

Voicethread is one of my favorite applications - I am wondering if anyone is using it with teachers for PD?
Did you all know that you can get the free Pro version if you are an educator? Just click on Go Pro and then the Educator link at the bottom of the window.

She elaborates on how to promote change among teachers. There is some very sound advice here.

There are several cartoon making sites online. I just found one that is easy to use and the results are pretty good. I want to blog it on SharonsShare, but thought perhaps you folks could think of some PD uses also.

I am a co-moderator for
Webheads 2008 this year (week 4) as I posted previously. We have over 150 registrants I believe from around the world. This is an invitation for you to browse the syllabus and tools - they are open to everyone. I love this group and have learned so much from them.
Wouldn't it be fun to have our own PD this way - shared across all of our districts?
What could we call it?
Anyone want to give it a try later…

I am a bit nervous - Monday my Taking Learning Global site opens to teens (and their mentors). I have several interested teachers from different countries, but haven't been able to get verification lately. Could it be - I have built it, but they won't come? If so, how to bring them in?
This seems to be a similar problem to bringing teachers themselves into online learning. How do you go about recruiting in your buildings as well as worldwide?
If anyone is involved with student…
